When does menopause start?

The average age of menopause for Japanese women is said to be 50.5. The 10 years (around 45 to 55 years old), including the 5 years before and after menopause, is generally called "menopause." (There are individual differences in the timing of menopause.)

From around the age of 40, the function of the ovaries begins to decline, the menstrual cycle gradually becomes irregular, and various changes appear in the body.

What happens when you reach menopause?
As the ovaries become less active with age, the amount of female hormone (estrogen) secreted naturally decreases.
Then, the brain issues a command to the ovaries, saying, "I don't have enough estrogen! Give me more!"

The ovaries that received the command try to secrete estrogen, but due to their reduced function, they cannot respond to it, and estrogen remains insufficient.

In this way, there is a gap between the commands of the brain and the reactions of the ovaries, and the control functions of the autonomic nerves, which are also controlled by the brain, are also disrupted, causing malfunctions. This is the main cause of many of the symptoms of menopause.

In addition to that, it is said that the stress of the environment and the personality that is easy to get will also affect it.
It is said that people who are hard-working and have a strong desire to do things perfectly are more likely to develop symptoms.
In addition, there is a lot of stress during this period, such as changes in the home environment such as work, childcare, independence of children, and nursing care. The greater the stress, the more severe the symptoms.
