[Is the heat measures perfect? ]

In recent years, the heat wave has continued, and many people are getting sick. The number of deaths due to heatstroke is also on the rise, so be sure to take preventative measures on a daily basis.
It is important to prepare from around June when not only the temperature but also the humidity rises.
Be careful! "heatstroke"
Heatstroke is a general term for various symptoms caused by the inability of our bodies to adapt to hot and humid environments.

Generally speaking, when the maximum temperature exceeds 25°C, heatstroke patients occur, and when it exceeds 30°C, the number of people who die from heatstroke begins to increase. However, even if the temperature is low, high humidity makes it difficult for sweat to evaporate, increasing the risk of heatstroke. Even if the temperature is below 25°C, caution is required when the humidity is above 80%.

★ Conditions that cause heat stroke

In recent years, the incidence of heat stroke indoors has increased, and in particular, about 40%* of elderly people who have heat stroke have developed it indoors.

*Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Fire and Disaster Management Agency: From May to September 2021, the ratio of places where the number of emergency transporters due to heat stroke occurred nationwide

In weather forecasts such as TV, the risk index of heat stroke calculated from temperature and humidity is announced. Let's use it as a reference for heat stroke prevention.

Let's take measures against heat and prevent heat stroke!
Prepare for the heat with the following three points.

①Temperature control
② Hydration
③ physical condition management

①Temperature control

It is very important to know the temperature and humidity changes of the day, and to know the indoor temperature and humidity conditions to prevent heatstroke. Let's try to know "What kind of state is the environment where you are now?"

☑ Indoors: Thermo-hygrometer
It can measure temperature and humidity. Elderly people are particularly susceptible to heatstroke even indoors, as their sensitivity to temperature is weakened.
Instead of relying on your own senses, look at the temperature and humidity with your own eyes to know the degree of danger in your environment.
Let's put it in your living base to prevent you from not seeing anything you bought.
It is recommended to place it near the TV as it will be easier to see.
A room temperature of 28°C and a humidity of 40% to 60% are guidelines for preventing heatstroke .

☑ Outdoors: parasols and hats

Don't forget it when you go out. Avoiding direct sunlight can also help prevent heat stroke. Hats don't breathe well, so take them off occasionally to improve ventilation.

☑ Indoors or outdoors: Cooling goods
There are many things that can be used easily, and it is convenient to prepare. It is important to take measures to cool the body, as a rise in body temperature makes it easier to get heatstroke.
In particular, you can cool the body efficiently by cooling the area where thick blood vessels pass near the surface of the body, such as the neck.

② Hydration
Drink water frequently even if you are not thirsty.
We recommend that you carry a drink with you so that you can stay hydrated whenever you go out.
Aim to drink at least 1.2 liters of water per day.
If it takes longer than 3 seconds for the color to change from white to pink when you press your nail, you may be dehydrated. Hydrate immediately.

[Things to prepare]

★When you are not sweating and in a comfortable environment

・・・Water or non-caffeinated tea

* When you sweat
... sports drink
When you're sweating or in a sweaty environment, it's best to use something that contains not only water but also salt and sugar. Beverages containing salt and sugar can help you absorb water smoothly and help replenish the salt lost through sweat.

For those who are not good at sports drinks, it is a good idea to use candy containing salt such as salt tablets while rehydrating with water.

Note! !
If your doctor gives you instructions about fluid and salt intake, follow your doctor's instructions.

It would be a good idea to use it as one of the sources of information for selecting beverages that can be used as a countermeasure against heatstroke.
In many cases, the relevant products are displayed as "heatstroke countermeasures" on POP etc.

③ Physical condition management (nutrition and rest)
When your physical strength is low, the risk of heat stroke increases. This is especially important for those who are sleep deprived. If you feel tired, don't overdo it and take a rest in a cool place.
During the season when it is easy to get tired of the summer, I think that there are many people who lose their appetite and skip meals, or who cannot eat much. Make sure you eat a balanced diet.

It is also important to get used to the heat
If you are not accustomed to the heat, the risk of heat stroke increases. Before the temperature rises and the risk of heat stroke increases, let's sweat as much as possible.

①Move your body moderately <br>Walking, cycling, stretching, etc.

·walking

Make a conscious effort to sweat a little, such as walking one station on your way home and using the stairs as much as possible when going out.

The time is 30 minutes once, and the frequency is about 5 days a week.

·cycling

Cycling is easy to incorporate into everyday life, such as commuting and shopping.
As a guideline, the time is 30 minutes once, and the frequency is about 3 times a week.

② Bathing

Instead of just taking a shower, fill the bathtub with hot water and take a bath. If the temperature of the hot water is high, it is recommended to take a short bath, and if the temperature of the hot water is low, it is recommended to take a slightly longer bath.

As a guideline, the frequency of bathing is about once every two days.

3. If you experience these symptoms
If you have any of the following symptoms, you may be suffering from heat stroke.

Dizziness and hot flashes
Muscle pain and muscle spasms (such as cramps)
Malaise, nausea, headache
The way you sweat is strange (e.g. sweat even when you wipe it off)
High body temperature, abnormal skin (very hot to the touch, etc.)

Cool down and rest in a cool place.
[Countermeasures] [1] Cool down the neck, armpits, and base of the feet with ice or ice packs, or wet the whole body and warm it up to lower body temperature and remove the heat trapped in the body.
Ice may not be ready immediately. If you have cooling goods, use them.
[2] Bring the patient to a well-ventilated shaded area, loosen the clothes , and let him rest.

[3] When he is conscious, keep him hydrated and let him sleep quietly . Sports drinks are suitable because not only water but also salt lost through sweat must be replenished.

You have heat stroke if: Seek medical attention immediately.
・Does not respond to calls (or responds strangely), cannot walk straight
- unable to rehydrate on their own

★Symptoms such as fever and persistent low-grade fever often lead to heatstroke-like symptoms when people think they have a cold. If you have a cold, you may experience symptoms such as a sore throat, cough, and runny nose, but it is difficult to diagnose in the early stages. Is something wrong? See a doctor if you think
